Mid-Summer Updates on Storms, Weeds, and Meetings

What the Remainder of the Season Holds for Residents of Lund Township

Greetings to all of the residents of Lund Township! I hope that you have been utilizing our new website and Facebook page for open discussions on township matters and sharing information about community events.  With these interesting times that we are currently living in, it is of the utmost importance that we keep our community close; especially when we are distanced from a lot of the rest of the country.

Keeping Up with Mother Nature

One event that got our attention recently was the storm that hit just after 5pm on Wednesday, July 8th.  While we thankfully avoided the brunt of Mother Nature’s force, we still felt the effects of her handy work. Not only did we feel these effects, but we also witnessed the unfortunate impact this storm had on those close to our township.  Our hearts go out those who may have been impacted by the storm, and we would like to thank those who took the time to inform us of downed trees and washed out roads as a result of this event.

While these devastating storms are a gift of Mother Nature, another one of her gifts is that of weeds!  This is one of the wonderful gifts that we wish we could be spared from, but as stewards, we must always keep watch.  So far, the weed campaign has kicked-off with the first mowing of the ditches.  In the coming weeks, we will start to put the finishing touches on weed control by spraying some of the noxious visitors and hopefully we can get some control over the wild parsnips and the Canadian thistle.

Looking Ahead for Summer

As we look forward to the middle of summertime, we hope to have some more of our road projects started and completed.  We will disclose more on the areas or concern at the next meeting on July 21st.  As always, we need the citizens of the township to give feedback, concerns, and support to help us be effective servants and advocates for you.

As for now, enjoy these last few hot days of Summer as Winter will be here soon enough!

Thank you all,

Mike
