Meet Your Lund Township Board

Mike New

Chairman and Supervisor

A native of Douglas County, Mike New was born and raised in Forada, just south of Alexandria.  He works as an applications scientist at LGC/Douglas Scientific. In his free time, he enjoys hunting and fishing, as well as partaking in a good run with his dog, Henry. Passionate for the outdoors and conserving rural life, Mike’s main goal is to “represent the people of Lund township and preserve the  interests of the community.”  As an advocate for all who live in Lund Township, Mike is currently serving as chairman.

Jon Ford

Supervisor

With more than 25 years of nonprofit experience as Chief Executive, Jon Ford has been involved in a wide variety of projects. During his professional career, Jon has represented small housing agencies and communities at the local, state, and federal levels of government by providing lobbyist and legislative action assistance.

Originally from Nebraska, he has been in Minnesota for the last 18 years, and a resident of Lund Township for the last six.  “I’ve lived all of my life in rural areas and small communities, and the focus of my professional and political efforts have been directed to the betterment of those regions and families that I represented.”

Jon and his wife love the area and have great admiration for Lund Township and its residents.  They intend to retire at the farmstead where they now reside.

Shaun Johnson

Supervisor

Shaun Johnson is a fifth generation native of Lund Township, and has lived in Melby his entire life.   He is a 1997 graduate of Evansville High School (but he will proudly tell you his father’s school days were spent in the old Melby Schoolhouse).  When not at work on road construction, Shaun is a passionate bird watcher and birdhouse builder; his handiwork may be seen on trees and fenceposts all around Lund Township.  An enthusiastic conservationist, he enjoys hunting and fishing. As a township supervisor, he is deeply committed to protecting Lund Township’s rural heritage.

Tracy Zickur

Treasurer

As a lifelong resident of Lund Township, Tracy Zickur is a third-generation board member; a role that follows in the footsteps of her grandfather, Kermit, and her mother, Carol.

In addition to her role as Treasurer, Tracy is an Administrative Assistant for the Head Start Program at West Central MN Communities Action, Inc. and she has served as the Office Secretary for Christina Lake Lutheran Church since 2010.   Tracy loves being with her family, spending time at Lake Ina, camping, reading, as well as crafting.

“My goal for Lund Township is to create a bright and financially secure future for its current and future residents.”

Kim Englund lives on a small hobby farm in Lund Township with her husband Casey and their two children, Willow and Conway. While her hobbies include horses, and the outdoors, Kim also enjoys being social and visiting with anyone and everyone she meets.

In addition to being the co-superintendent of Sunday School at Christina Lake Church, Kim is also an associate accountant for a grant funded non-profit.  “I feel that I have knowledge that carries over to the township from that experience,” she says. Kim also wants to help the board become, “more transparent to its residents” as well as help to keep clear, accurate records.

John House, Deputy Clerk, stands smiling in a room with flags behind him-- one of which is the American flag.

John House

Deputy Clerk

John and Barb House moved here from Forest Lake in 1978, and have resided in Lund Township ever since.  They always loved ‘the old days and the old ways’ and found the community to be a perfect place to raise their children.

For John, interest in township government sprang out of a need for a Treasurer back in March of 2017. From there, John parlayed the role into that of Clerk until finally settling into the position of Deputy Clerk, in which he serves today.

“To me, possibly the greatest value that exists in Lund Township is its very rural and traditional culture,” John explains. “Any one of us could easily move to Minneapolis, but we don’t—and that’s for a reason.”
